about
Delicate pizzicato strings and airy multi-tracked flutes open the door to the dreamy sounding sonic world of "GM GM" (a.k.a. "Good Morning, Good Mourning"). It is a gently melancholic start about someone or something
slipping through ones fingers. By its mid point though this Harkness song, true to form, blooms with much more massive and expressive orchestration, it's crescendo soaring with hugely colorful Brian Wilson-esque vocal harmony as if to now say: "What the Hell happened."?
When asked about the songs meaning Harkness ventures: "whether
it is the breakup of a relationship or the realization that some incredible moment you have experienced is now gone forever we are all constantly dealing with loss at every turn. "GM GM" is about making peace with and embracing that fact every single morning."
lyrics
GM GM Lyrics:
Like a dream she came to me and then she slipped away
Good morning, good mourning
Like a dream she came to me and then she slipped away
How do You do yesterdays news
Its been so long is that really You
Sweet 13 I can still hear you say “Baby”
Never again
Good morning, good mourning
Like a dream she came to me and then she slipped away
That kiss that night we cried and we cried
Never knew if love really died
Heart like a hummingbird, heart like a hummingbird
Mind like a serpent, shining knight, boy coward
With Mother’s milk the digging begins
Don’t cha blink, don’t miss a thing
Queen Guillotine spare’s nothing “Baby”
Never again
Like a dream she came to me and then she slipped away
Good morning good mourning
Like a dream she came to me and then she slipped away
Away
