about

Don’t be fooled by the innocent falsetto and Pez colored vocal harmonies that begin this song, there is trouble brewing in the heart of this music. This may be one of Harkness’ finest orchestrations, from the multi-tracked flutes and clarinets in the intro to the Cacophony of strings and horns in the chorus.

When asked what “Defibrillator” is about he says -“Well, looking all around us today it appears as if the shit is truly hitting the fan. There’s so much inequality, division and pain, so many people seem to be struggling. It’s almost as if the World is having a heart attack right before our eyes. Maybe the whole planet could use a Defibrillator.”?

While the lyrics deal with the constant decay all around us and the light that is found within it, in the end the chorus of the song is explosively colorful sounding with big drums, big instruments and lots more vocal harmony. The feeling the music evokes is positive and spiritually uplifting.

lyrics

"Defibrillator" Lyrics:

Ahh, Ohh, Ooo

Baby don’t let one bad year blow us away
We were all born blinded by Autumns’ Parade
The road ahead it seeks repair in every way
Volunteer your winning, give up the game

Ahh, Ohh, Ooo

Baby come into the light
Don’t leave Lucifer behind
The Defibrillators’ set on high
Baby come into the light
